where does your marketing come from?
Like the little kid’s question about babies, I often wonder where certain brands’ marketing comes from. Some marketing comes straight from the excel spreadsheet (discounts, coupons, price-offs, limited time onlys etc).
Some marketing comes from the brain – well thought out, clever, strategic.
Some comes from the heart or gut – full of passion, full of creativity, wrapped in a big idea, lots of fun….
Some marketing strikes me as simply borrowed, or copied, or plagiarized… Follow the leader… one off…
Some marketing comes from that special place where it just all lines up – strategic, creative, insightful, compelling, brand building, sales building, broadly appealing. How does that happen? Is it serendipity? Is it engineered well? Is it from a savant who knows how to do it? Is it because the brand somehow deserves it?
I have a few ideas. What do you think?
